Midnight Honesty at Noon: Ti-i-i-ime is on my side

Travis, thanks for the kind words. My advantage: I retired early from the Feds with a respectable pension, my wife the educator is still working, and we promised ourselves we would explore Austin. And there's a lot to explore!

Awesome, Travis! Thanks for the rundown on the Austin scene. So helpful!

And speaking from the experience of Chicago, where the Jeff Award nominating process is very draining for the committee folk (the highly circuitous guidelines are at http://jeffawards.org/index.php?action=about_no... , but functionally each review committee person sees 40 - 100 shows a year! Herculean.), I agree - it's ultimately better to strike a balance where more working artists can be involved in the nominating process, even if it means that fewer people actually get to evaluate the show. We're in a very fast-changing field and design especially is not evaluated well by retirees who used to work (or not work) in a very different theater process (we're talking vaudeville in some cases, though I'd say the majority of folks are much more savvy when it comes to more post-modern work)
